~~~NEW RELEASE~~~ DARK PHOENIX by ELISE FABER
DARK PHOENIX by: ELISE FABER
From the author of Phoenix Rising, comes the second novel in the Phoenix Series. A tale of darkness, love, and mortal enemies...
Black magic. Immoral monsters. Death. And bone-deep, soul-to-soul love with a green-eyed man hell-bent on owning every part of her heart.
Daughtry’s life changed forever when she bonded with Cody and began to control her visions. Yet as she masters her magic, those very same abilities threaten to harm the people she holds most dear.
When an opportunity arises for her to fix a past wrong, does she dare risk using her magic in order to set things right again?
A soul sweeping darkness is lurking at the Colony, making the choice for her and threatening the world she’s built for herself. But Daughtry soon discovers that if she’s to have the future and love she’s always wanted, she must fight for it.
I was wowed by Phoenix Rising and was wowed again when reading Dark Phoenix. Even though Tyler caught my eye in the first book and caught my heart in the second, I greatly enjoyed the story of Daughtry and Cody. I enjoyed learning more of Daughtry and Cody's history and learning what has defined them. In the first book, we learned of a sort of new breed of human. Elise expanded on them and showed us more of their story, which I really enjoyed.
There's love, loss, fighting, death, betrayal. Daughtry is full of doubt and discouragement. She's overcome by the events unfolding in from of her eyes. She desperately wants to do all she can to fix things to the way they should be. Does she act or does she do what comes so natural to her and run?
Congrats Elise on another beautifully written story!
Cover Reveal ~ Dark Phoenix by Elise Faber
Author Bio:
Despite moonlighting as a zookeeper and then a dog trainer, Elise decided that the only mammals she wanted to work with were her dark and sexy heroes and heroines. She inherited her love of reading from her mother and grandmother who dutifully kept stacks of romances where her teenaged fingers could easily pilfer them. She lives in Northern California with her three dogs, two energetic (read crazy) boys, and her awesome (see prior comment) husband.
Shy, cowgirl? Since when?”
Her cheeks heated as Cody sent her an image of her sprawled naked below him, his hands on her waist, her breasts. His hips moving up and down—
~~~NEW RELEASE~~~ Losing Alex by Sam McCarthy

Author bio :
Sam lives in Yorkshire, England with her husband and their eight children. She always wanted to write, and would hand in elaborate stories at school when asked to write and kept diaries throughout her life, but actually becoming a writer happened completely by accident.
Sam wrote a couple of paragraphs for a competition and from those few words Discovering Alex, her debut novel was born. She now spends all of her spare time (not that there is much of it) writing and planning new projects.

Before we get to Sam's new release, let's take a look at her debut novel Discovering Alex, book 1 to this series.

Synopsis:

A chance meeting with a handsome stranger was about to turn Alex's world upside down. How would she ever cope with her own guilt?

Feeling like a real life Cinderella she embarks on her journey of discovery, but would she like where she ended up? Or the choices she would have to make along the way?

My review:

Although this book has some content in it that does not agree with me, the rest is good. I did enjoy the relationship that Alex has with her bestie. Being able to have such a friend that will speak their mind and put you in your place when you need it, is one of the greatest gifts a girl can ask for. When life tries to bring you down, your bestie knows exactly what to do and say to pull you back on your feet.

Outside of the relationship that Alex found in the book, I really enjoyed reading her inner struggles and her feeling how broken she was. I look forward to reading book 2, Losing Alex.

~~~RELEASE DAY~~~ Stepbrother Mine by Mandy Lou Dowson
Author of the Moon Bound Series
Bio
Mandy Lou Dowson was born and raised in a small town in Ireland, in 1983. Family is a huge deal to Mandy. She has three wonderful children, and a Siberian Husky who only does what she’s told if there’s something in it for her.
When she's not writing, reading, or plotting her next book - or, you know, world domination -, she likes to relax with a few glasses of wine and some karaoke. She has a keen interest in special effects make-up and is part of a dramatical society which puts on one show and one concert each year.
Mandy started reading at quite a young age and her appetite for the written word has only increased with time. It would not be at all surprising to find her reading anything and everything from shampoo bottles to Edgar Allan Poe.
She is the author of two distinct series of books. The Moon Bound series, which is in the Paranormal Romance genre, and is gathering rave reviews, and the Taboo series, which is Contemporary with a hint of the forbidden.
Blurb:
**This book is a stand alone. It is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18, due to explicit scenes, language and situations.
They were always taught that family was about more than blood, but when step-siblings Sophie Ellis and Logan Castle meet for the first time, their attraction is instantaneous. Forever trying to keep each other at arm's length, they discover that sometimes the best laid plans fall apart, when lovers fall together.
He's everything she's ever fantasized about, and everything she can never have.
She's all he's ever wanted, but never hoped to have.
Trying so hard to be his stepsister, she can't shake the attraction she feels.
He decides it's best to leave, but when circumstances see them reunite and he discovers their initial attraction is still there after all the intervening years, he can't help himself. He has to have her.
Running scared, she cuts all ties.
Left behind, his bitterness grows.
When again circumstances force her back into his arms, her past comes back to haunt her.
He's determined to make her pay for leaving him.
Desires are forbidden. Loyalties are tested. Hearts are broken. In the end, is love strong enough to conquer all?
My Review:
Mandy Lou Dowson has written masterpiece with Stepbrother Mine. Her book is about a young lady & young man who meet and quickly find out they are step siblings. They have an insane attraction to each other, therefore making it hard for them to be around each other. While one wants to pursue this attraction the other doesn't. Tragedy strikes, leaving them both vulnerable and relying on each other. But, will this tragedy be enough to keep them together? Will they let go of the fear of what others might think and be together or will they go their separate ways? I recommend reading and finding out for yourself what happens with Logan and Sophie.
***New Release*** WITHER by Amy Miles
Released 10/26/14
Synopsis:
I always thought when the apocalypse finally began I would be swinging my baseball bat with the best of them, in true zombie slayer fashion. I was prepped and ready to smash in some heads if the need ever arose.
The problem is...no one ever warned me that I would have to fear the humans instead. The ones who still remember their names and how to put a gun to your temple when they want something.
The others...well,they pretty much keep to themselves.
Wither is a psychological thriller that poses the question...what if the zombies aren't the ones we should fear? What if it's human nature instead?
How far would YOU go to survive just one more day?
Do not fear the Withered Ones. Fear the ones still human.
Check out the amazing book trailer below!
My Review:
Wither is an action packed book with a fresh take on zombies. I greatly enjoyed reading a book that didn't portray zombies as people eaters. There is a lot of violence & gore and Amy's description of zombies is very graphic.
Even during the apocalypse, let's face it, everyone still needs a little romance. I love how Amy incorporated this into her Horror/Thriller Apocalyptic book. The relationship unfolding between the characters, Avery and Cable is so descriptive, you can visualize it and it feels so real.
I enjoyed reading Wither so much, I read it in two days and I can't wait to read book 2 of the Withered series.
Excerpt:
I glance in, but the box is dark inside all of the tissue paper. My hands retrieve the first item. “Buckeyes!” I exclaim.
“I can see why she’s your best friend.” Dean leans on one elbow, watching me explore the contents one by one.
I reach in, continuing to pull out items—a black hair scarf with cherries, a pair of earrings from one of my favorite local jewelry designers in Cincinnati, Abbi Glines’s newest steamy romance. My cheeks go hot as Dean sees the cover, lifting his eyebrows.
“Well, I think that’s it,” I say, lifting the box, the sound of something shifting inside catching my attention. “Oh, there’s something else.”
I reach in, and as I do, I can feel Dean’s eyes locked on me. I feel something long and cool slip into my hand. Locking my fingers around it, I let the box fall away. Instantly, I see Dean straighten up, a half-cocked grin on his face.
Much to my horror, I look down to see a pink rubber penis-shaped device in my hand. I freeze, but my cheeks are on fire. All I can think about is the different ways I am going to torture Monica before I kill her.
“I can explain,” I begin. I’ll tell him she’s crazy—like actually certifiable.
He’s still grinning at me as he gives me a slight nod. He closes the gap between us even more.
“You know, I can help with that,” he offers, and I can’t help but wonder if he’s serious, or perhaps maybe I’m wishing.
“You think I’m that easy?” I hit the ball squarely back to him. I consider licking my lips, but worry that may be over the top. I’m looking directly at him, and damn, he’s incredible.
“A guy can hope.” He pauses, playfully lifting an eyebrow. “Can’t he?”
I grin. In fact, I can’t do anything but grin. He moves closer, and I glance down, realizing I’m still holding the device. My breath hitches, but he still moves closer. He’s facing me, never moving those gorgeous blue eyes away from me. He slides his arm around my waist, and as he presses himself against me, I’m sure I can feel an erection. This surprises me, and my hand releases the dildo, which falls to the floor with a thud.
“What’s wrong? Can’t contain your excitement around me?” he whispers, his breath warm on my neck, just below my ear.
My mouth is watering, my heartbeat quickens, and my head is now spinning. I pull back, the distance giving me a slight bit of clarity. The idea of this kind of pleasure is tempting. The bulge in his jeans tells me he is interested.
In an attempt to casually conceal the pink rubber shaft, I use the toe of my platform sandals to kick it under a nearby chair. Dean cocks a brow, his face shifts, and he laughs softly.
“What?” I shrug innocently.
“Did you just kick a dick under a chair?” He’s still laughing.
“Watch it, or I might make a habit of it.”
“Ouch,” he hisses, then winces, grabbing himself as if he were imagining the attack.
My eyes dart past his shoulder, where Storm is coming up the stairs. She has on her headphones, staring at the face of her phone. I nod my head at Dean, indicating we’re no longer alone. I shift, moving to walk past him. He grabs my hip, pulling me into his grasp.
“We’ll continue this later,” he promises. He takes my hand and leads me past Storm and out of the bus without a word. I wonder if she can tell what had been transpiring from the look on my face.
As we move around the side of the bus, I feel his hand shift to the small of my back. It’s like he knows all the places to touch me to drive me absolutely insane.
